ADGM wins GAR Award for “Jurisdiction that has made great progress”

Linda Fitz-Alan, Registrar and Chief Executive of ADGM Courts, said: “I am very pleased to announce that Abu Dhabi Global Market has been awarded “Jurisdiction that has made great progress” by the Global Arbitration Review Awards 2020. GAR, the leading voice in the global arbitration community, has recognised the significant impact that ADGM has had on the arbitration landscape since its inception almost five years ago.

This recognition is a testament to ADGM’s commitment to leading the way as a progressive and preferred destination for dispute resolution.

GAR’s award acknowledges three key developments in ADGM in 2019: the publication of the ADGM Arbitration Guidelines; the issuing of ADGM Courts’ first two arbitration-related decisions; and the enactment of Litigation Funding Rules which apply to both court and arbitral proceedings.

These developments also followed the establishment of the ADGM Arbitration Centre in October 2018. With its state-of-the-art technology and outstanding hearing facilities, ADGM’s Arbitration Centre perfectly complements its modern pro-arbitration framework based on the UNCITRAL Model Law, with tailored enhancements for the region.

We are committed to ensuring that the UAE remains a global leader in dispute resolution.

I would also like to congratulate the other outstanding winners of the GAR Awards. Through our collective efforts and support, we are set to continue our transformation of the international arbitration landscape.”
